Brand partnerships, theatrical push, and emotions: Inside Out 2's marketing is quite extensive.

Along with partnerships with IMAX, Dolby, and RealD 3D for improved theater experiences, social media engagement played a key role in a multifaceted attempt to recapture the excitement from the first film. Inside Out 2's marketing strategy went all guns blazing in its approach, from introducing new emotions to numerous collaborations with brands—Bubble Skincare, Joyburst, Uber—and celebrities alike.

The film Inside Out, which first came out nine years ago, showed us Riley's mental tornado. Everybody could identify with the pandemonium that resulted from Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust, and Anger—personifications of fundamental emotions—working together. In addition to being quite novel—something that had never been seen in a movie before—the premise appeared to be fairly straightforward and approachable. An animated medium seemed a fitting fit for the concept of personified emotions interacting with each other like characters inside a person's brain while she goes about her existence.

Given the central theme of Inside Out, which is a child's childhood struggle, a sequel seemed inevitable when the first movie ended. Fans were eager for confirmation , as talk of a second installment continued to surface. With Amy Poehler, who plays Joy, and director Pete Docter on the stage to talk about the movie, Pixar formally announced the sequel's development during the D23 Expo announcement in September 2022. Mark Nielsen was named as the film's producer, while Meg LeFauve, who wrote the screenplay for the first picture, was announced as the sequel's director, marking Kelsey Mann's first feature directorial experience.

Pixar has to make sure that the promotion for the movie can bring back the warmth and enthusiasm of the first Inside Out, especially with a sequel scheduled to return with a few new emotions.

Making the world familiar

In keeping with the nostalgia for the first installment, the Pixar crew began releasing media content for the future movie back in 2023. About seven months before the movie's premiere date, on November 9, 2023, the poster and teaser trailer for the movie were unveiled. Riley was seen as an adolescent navigating the challenges of coming of age. additional emotions in the shape of additional characters emerged as the character's emotional complexity increased. Under the headline "Big changes. new emotions," the poster showcased several new characters.
