BJP's outspoken tribal leader Mohan Charan Majhi, who shows up at all village events

Odisha's next chief minister, Mohan Majhi, will be assisted by deputy chief ministers KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida.

Bhubaneshwar (Odisha): After senior state leaders Dharmendra Pradhan and Jual Oram were dragged into the Union administration, the BJP chose a relatively unknown figure as the new Chief Minister of Odisha: four-time MLA and the party's tribal face, Mohan Charan Manjhi. Additionally, the party has selected KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida as Mr. Manjhi's deputies.

Tomorrow is the oath ceremony, which former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend. In Bhubaneshwar, PM Modi is anticipated to do a roadshow before heading to the Janata Maidan.

Mr. Majhi, 52, is a seasoned politician who has served as a Keonjhar MLA four times. His organizational abilities and commitment to public service helped him win the election.

After serving as a minister in the Naveen Patnaik government for nine years until 2009, when the Biju Janata Dal and the BJP formed an alliance, Mr. Deo, a six-time MLA and former royal from Patna (princely state), Bolangir, was dismissed in 2009.

28 years had been spent in the party by 57-year-old Pravati Parida, a first-time MLA. She served as the state BJP Vice President from 2022 to 2024 in addition to being the head of the women's wing from 2016 to 2022.
For the BJP, which is forming government in the coastal state for the first time after 24 years of Naveen Patnaik's administration, choosing the next Chief Minister was a difficult decision. Nonetheless, the BJP was granted 78 of the 147 assembly seats since the state had confidence in the party. BJD secured 51 seats.
Union ministers Rajnath Singh and Bhupendra Yadav, who were dispatched as observers by the Central leadership, watched the BJP legislative party choose the names this evening.

Key leaders and Union ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw and Jual Oram attended the Bhubaneshwar BJP headquarters meeting. The oath ceremony tomorrow is well-secured. The event will host union ministers and chief ministers of BJP-ruled states.
